The rest of this page explains how Hallway Echoes handles the email address you provide for the pre-launch waitlist.
What we collect
Only the email address you enter. We do not ask for your name, and we do not collect cookies, trackers, advertising identifiers, or analytics on this page.
What we store
For each sign-up we store:
- the email address you submitted;
- a one-way hash of that address, used as the record key;
- one-way hashes of your confirmation and unsubscribe tokens (never the tokens themselves);
- the state of your sign-up (pending, confirmed, unsubscribed, or expired) and the related timestamps.
We retain the address itself for one reason only: so we can actually send you the progress updates, preview invitations, and launch news you asked for. It is never sold, never shared, and never used for anything else. The data is encrypted at rest by the storage service and is reachable only by this application’s managed identity.
How we use it
We use your email address only to send occasional Hallway Echoes updates:
- progress updates on the project;
- preview invitations to try the archive early;
- launch news when the archive opens.
We will not use your address for any other purpose, and we will never sell or rent it.
Double opt-in
After you sign up, we email you a confirmation link. Nothing else is sent until you complete that confirmation. Your address becomes active on the waitlist only after you confirm. If you do not confirm within seven days, the pending request expires and the address is deleted.
Retention
Unconfirmed (pending) sign-ups expire after seven days, and the address is deleted at that point. Confirmed addresses are kept only for the pre-launch waitlist and their records are removed at the 90-day sunset, unless you ask us to delete yours sooner. We do not keep waitlist data indefinitely.
Unsubscribe and deletion
Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time from any message. The one exception is the short note confirming that you have been unsubscribed, which carries no such link because there is nothing left to unsubscribe from. Unsubscribing stops all future email immediately. When you unsubscribe, the address itself is deleted and only the irreversible one-way key is kept — purely so that an accidental re-submission of the same address is recognized and is not turned into unwanted mail. That key cannot be reversed back into your address.
You may also ask us to delete your record entirely. To unsubscribe or request deletion, use the link in any email or contact privacy@hallwayechoes.com.

Who runs Hallway Echoes
Brian Middendorf is a proud Lincoln Northeast Class of 1992 alumnus, the owner of Hallway Echoes, and the developer bringing it to life. He created Hallway Echoes from a simple belief: Rocket memories deserve a welcoming home where they can be preserved, rediscovered, and shared across generations.
Brian lives in Lincoln, Nebraska, with his wife, Kim, and their four children, two of whom are now living on their own. He is currently a Senior Applied AI & Analytics Engineer at Microsoft. Hallway Echoes is his independent personal project, built with plenty of Rocket pride and a genuine love for the stories, photographs, and people that make Lincoln Northeast special. It is not operated by or affiliated with Microsoft, Lincoln Public Schools, or Lincoln Northeast High School.
Helping care for the Hallway Echoes community are moderators Jennifer Rogge Mixon and Jeff Buss, the creators and administrators of the LNE Alumni Facebook group. Their years of bringing Rockets together and keeping school memories alive help ensure that Hallway Echoes remains grounded in the community it was created to serve.
